Installing Security System Monitoring

Last month a friend of mine had his business broken into. He had opened a bicycle shop just a few months earlier. The crooks broke in through the side door and proceeded to take all of his top end bikes and bike tires and wheels. He had been looking around for some sort of security system monitoring and had received a couple of quotes but kept putting it off saying he was to busy. He had a system installed the day after the break in.

 

It is not terribly expensive to install a security system monitoring device. They will come out and install door and window contacts. Normally a least one motion detector and maybe a button at the front counter to alert the service if the is a hold up. A standard package should run you under $400 dollars to install when you sign a monitoring agreement with the alarm company.

 

Check with the security system motoring service to find out if your security system will be interrupted in the event of a power outage. This can sometimes happen if you have voip phone lines. Also check to make sure that your phone lines can not be cut from the outside. Most companies will offer a backup system to increase your peace of mind.

 

Check the experience of your security system monitoring service. Talk to people who use the service and find out what they think of the service. Find out how many people monitor the system and what the average dispatch time is. Make sure they are manned 24/7 so that there are not any lapses in coverage. In an emergency situation response time could be a matter of life or death.
